Is the PDF really free?

Yes. Open your export in the free chat viewer and save it as a PDF, or download TXT, CSV or one web page. Your browser does the work, and nothing is uploaded. These free copies list each voice message where it was sent, but do not write it out.

Why does a print window open instead of a download?

Accepted Answer

The PDF is a print view of your chat. It opens in a new tab with your browser's print dialog: choose Save as PDF to keep a file, or a printer for paper. Chrome and Edge also print the chat name and a page number on each page; Safari and Firefox leave them out. If the new tab is blocked, you get a web page file to open and print instead.

What does each page of the PDF show?

The first page lists the chat name, the people, the number of messages and the dates covered. Each day gets a heading, and every message shows its time and sender. Photos are not printed. The PDF names each file and when it was sent, so you can find it in your export.

Can the PDF include the voice messages written out?

Accepted Answer

Yes, once you unlock the chat. Each voice message is transcribed in the language it was spoken and printed under the message, with its date and time. Export with media first, or there is no audio to write out. The TXT, CSV and HTML downloads get the transcripts too.

Can I make the PDF from WhatsApp Web on my computer?

Accepted Answer

WhatsApp Web can export a chat, but without photos or voice messages. For the full chat, export it on your phone, move the file to the computer with Files, Drive or email, then open it in the free viewer and save the PDF.

My phone writes the day first. Will the dates be right?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We read the dates correctly whether your phone writes the day or the month first. The PDF writes every date as year, month and day, like 2025-03-14, so nobody has to guess whether 03/04 means March or April. Times are your phone's local time, as written in the export.

What does it cost to add the transcripts?

Accepted Answer

The PDF without transcripts stays free. To add them, you pay once for the chat, set by its messages and minutes of voice. Up to 1,000 messages and 10 minutes costs $3. Up to 20,000 messages and 2.5 hours costs $12. You see the exact price before you pay.
